Lusail Bridges
The Lusail Bridges 8 & 9 project concerns a high-profile technical investigation into alleged design defects affecting two major suspension bridges and associated infrastructure in Lusail City, Qatar. The Civil Court of Qatar initiated proceedings in 2017 and appointed a tripartite committee of engineering experts—including CHI—to independently assess the technical aspects of the case. The committee's mission included on-site inspections, detailed analysis of the bridge designs, and evaluation of compliance with international engineering standards. Through extensive review of documentation and structured engagement with the stakeholders, the committee sought to identify the causes of the alleged defects and assess their technical significance.
Over several years, CHI, as part of the court-appointed expert panel, contributed to a thorough and transparent investigation aimed at clarifying liability for the design issues and determining whether the identified defects fell within the scope of decennial liability. The process also involved examining counterclaims and assessing the involvement of other engineering firms connected to the project. This work underscores CHI’s role as a trusted independent expert in complex infrastructure disputes, providing impartial analysis and professional judgment in support of fair resolution processes.
