CHI Consulting Engineers has developed unique capabilities through the integration of technical expertise, advanced engineering analysis, in-house programming, 3D BIM, and structural health monitoring. Since 2016, CHI has been providing public and private clients valuable services.
Bridge Design
CHI’s bridge design experience includes not only one-of-a-kind signature bridges, but also conventional highway bridges, and spans all design phases, from scoping studies to final designs, as well as construction support services. Over the years, CHI’s design team has provided significant values to clients and/or prime design consultants and established great track record and reputation. We are committed to our clients' needs and project goals and delivering high quality work through dedication and innovation.
Independent Checking and Peer Review
Project quality and cost controls are becoming increasing important to not just bridge owners, but also engineering firms. A fresh set of eyes from experienced and qualified engineers can discover possible hidden design issues and greatly reduce the risks of projects. Cost savings may also be realized through innovative designs and advanced analysis. CHI has provided independent checking and peer review services for clients in US and internationally.
Construction Engineering
CHI has great expertise and extensive experience in Construction Engineering (CE) and has developed innovative and cost-effective designs for many projects. One of CHI’s specialties in CE is designing high-load (over 1,000 tons) jacking frames and temporary supports for replacing pins and hangers of long span suspension and truss bridges. Custom-made and innovative designs are usually required for these designs due to high loads and very confined spaces. Furthermore, CHI has developed robust and efficient construction methods and sequences that greatly minimized interruption to the traffic and improved productivity of the construction teams.
Forensic Investigation
Accidents happen during construction, service, and or demolition. With our extensive engineering expertise and advanced analysis capabilities, we have investigated the sources of error and provide independent opinion on various projects. CHI’s engineers have also served as Technical Experts for clients in US and abroad.
Advanced Engineering Analysis
CHI’s analysis team uses various analysis tools such as advanced finite element modeling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and in-house programs to study structural behaviors and develop rational and unique design solutions. The analysis types include linear or non-linear, elastic or inelastic, static or dynamic behaviors. These specialized analyses require a broad view of the expected behaviors and may also require the integration of results from stress analysis, structural analysis, fracture mechanics, field testing, as well as CFD analysis. CHI’s engineers have the breadth and experience to find the best methods to solve challenging problems.
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)
CHI provides Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of all types of bridge and structures. Our platform integrates state-of-the-art sensors, and proprietary data acquisition and management system, allowing long-term, continuous, and high-precision monitoring of the strain, stress, deformation, vibration, etc. with greater flexibility to meet the needs of our clients. The implementation of our SHM solutions provides our clients to with a clean vision with the internal conditions and long-term performance of a structure and play a vital role in assisting with unconventional design, retrofit, construction services, and forensic investigation.
