We're excited to announce that CHI will be presenting "Keep Traffic Moving on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge" at the International Bridge Conference (IBC) 2023. This presentation will detail our journey in managing the significant replacement of deteriorated truss rocker links, wind pins and lateral bracing at the anchorages of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge after their ninety years of service. Amidst challenges such as limited space, high design loads, and the need to minimize traffic disruptions, CHI developed an innovative system of alternate supports, ensuring the continuity of the bridge's operations, which serves over 100,000 vehicles and 200 trains daily.
The presentation will take place during the Construction/Erection, Part 1 Session on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 1:30 - 5:00 PM. The co-authors include Qi Ye, Steven Htet, Kyunghwa Cha, and Liwei Han from CHI, along with Michael Rakowski and Michael Venuto from the Delaware River Port Authority.
